David C. Pritchard Memorial Scholarship - $1000
Eligibility Requirements:
- Enrolled students in Master's Degree in Gerontology
- 3.0 GPA or higher
- This scholarship is awarded on the basis of commitment to the field of gerontology, strong educational purpose, academic standing, and financial need.
- Application period September 4, 2007 to February 11, 2008
Please submit the following:
- Completed Application.
- A resume of no more than 3 pages.
- The names (and contact information) of one individual who will serve as reference (academic or professional).
- An essay of three pages (double space) that demonstrate the following:
- Commitment to working in the field of aging
- Evidence of past, current, and/or future involvement in community service
(volunteer work or paid employment)
- Evidence, if any, of sacrifice(s) made to pursue higher education
- Interest in continuing skill development
- Need for the scholarship/how it will help you
The above criteria, once addressed should paint a clear picture of who you are and why you deserve to receive the scholarship.
A personal interview may be required.
Candidates for this scholarship should share Dr. Pritchard's commitment to improving the quality of life of older people, and should also embody his personal qualities of integrity, benevolence, and compassion. It is our goal that this scholarship will increase the availability of dedicated and skillful gerontologists who will carry on Dr. Pritchard's humane approach in their work.
